What is your displacement if you walk 80 m north, 15 m east, 20 m south, 35 m west, and then 60 m south?

The net north-south component is  (80-n + 20-s + 60-s) = zero .

The net east-west component is  (15-e + 35-w) = 20 m west .

So the total displacement is 20 meters west .
